The Hackettstown Kiwanis Club, Foundation For Educational Excellence
Team Up for Community Day, Duck Race May 10:
The Hackettstown Kiwanis Club and The
Hackettstown Foundation for Educational Excellence are teaming up to host
the First Annual Hackettstown Community Day and Duck Race on Saturday May
10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Alumni Field, Willow Grove Street,
Hackettstown.
“This is going to be a great fun day that the
whole family can enjoy,” said Dan Hirshberg, Immediate Past President of
the Hackettstown Kiwanis Club. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for families
to enjoy themselves without having to spend a lot of money. In fact, there
is no cost to attend.”
Throughout the day, children can enjoy free
activities including inflatable rides from Kidz Play that are sponsored by
the Hackettstown Municipal Alliance, games, exhibits, Civil War Reenactors,
and family music by Clair Reynolds, plus a performance by the Colonial
Musketeers of Hackettstown. The day will conclude with the exciting Duck
Race, with valuable prizes being offered to those lucky winners who “buy
ducks.” Ducks are $5 each and can be purchased in advance or the day of the
race. TOP PRIZE to the winner of the Duck Race: $1000 in Hackettstown BID
Bucks, good as cash in many Hackettstown businesses. The top prize is
supported by Centenary College.
The Hackettstown Foundation for Educational
Excellence is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the
teachers and students of the Hackettstown School District. The Foundation’s
mission is to enhance the educational experience of the students of the
Hackettstown Public Schools by creating opportunities for parents,
community members, and local businesses to support quality education. One
of the activities that the Foundation has been proud to offer the
Hackettstown community is its Annual Duck Race Event, this year combining
with Community Day. This is the seventh year that the Duck Race will have
taken place, raising thousands of dollars over the years.
The Kiwanis Club is excited to be a part of
this event. The club is active in a variety of community activities
throughout the year, raising funds for charity causes and for scholarships
for high school seniors. HHS Key Club members will be helping out at the
event, too.
In addition to the Hackettstown Kiwanis Club,
further support of the event is being provided by Manhire Opticians,
DuPont, NJN Publishing, Growing Stage Theatre, WRNJ Radio, and the
Hackettstown Business Improvement District. Entertainment sponsors are
Plaza Family Care and Village Family Chiropractic – Dr. James Fedich.
Duck Race prizes include NASCAR race tickets,
Dinner Out for a Year, Flowers for a Year, Theatre Tickets, Knight
Automotive Car Care Package, His and Her Sunglasses, from Manhire
Opticians, and a Family Pool Pass for the Hackettstown Community Pool.
All contributions to the Foundation provide a
chance for many students to experience a unique educational opportunity.
Duck Race tickets are available in a number of Hackettstown businesses and
can also be purchased the day of the race. If you wish to contact the
Foundation, write to HFEE, PO Box 642, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
